Things you should consider BEFORE your party:

  • Decide on appropriate venue by considering:
    - the number of guests you wish to invite
    - transport options to and from the party
    - safety issues (try to avoid hazardous venues such as boats, or
near pools or high traffic areas, especially if guests will be drinking)
  • Give out written invitations. Try to avoid casual or group invitations
  • Encourage guests to avoid driving to the venue if they know they will be drinking
  • Find out local taxi numbers and have them on hand for guests. You could even consider pre-ordering taxis to arrive at the finishing time
  • Provide plenty of food, plan to make it available through out the party
  • Decide how alcohol will be served. Ensure low and non-alcoholic drinks are available
  • If you are having amplified music, notify your neighbours as a courtesy
  • Notify local Police and register your party with the WA Police Service Party Register
  • If you intend to sell liquor or charge entry you may be in breach of the Licensing Laws. An ‘Occasional Licence’ is required if you are intending to sell alcohol at a home party
  • Organise to have someone e.g. a friend or relative to supervise and be responsible for security.
